I just bought a MIJ E-series Strat for a good price but the body and wiring need some work. I am having trouble identifying the body. Someone painted over it and I'm not sure what the original finish is, it could be the lighter blue green under the flaking green. The neck pocket looks straighter than my other MIJ Squier and any other Fender I've owned. It's a hard tail, I haven't seen too many hard tail Squiers but I do know they exist. The pickups say "1NX" "1B" and "U.S. pat. 4,442,749." Any help Identifying any of the pickups or body would be much appreciated.
Thank you!

It doesn't matter, nugget. It's got a killer set of strap buttons and an NOS string tree.

Oh... OK... Thanks for enlightening me !

But, you forgot the 'A' & 'D' replacement saddles, they're a nice touch !

Plus, the neck/mid pups don't appear to match the bridge.

cheers!

Thanks for all the help guys! Now if anyone that actually knows how to ID any of these parts would chime in it would be much appreciated. The pat number shows that the bridge pickup is a DiMazio, anyone know the exact model?

Yes, it's very easy to poke fun at the partcaster, I am going to salvage the parts and build something nice to play. Whoever assembled this guitar prior was obviously a real amateur. I bought the guitar because it was cheap and it has a good neck and case which I can easily justify paying for. I knew going in that the body was questionable.

Thanks!

The bridge pickup is a DiMarzio? I don't recognize it.

The other two pickups look like typical Japanese pickups. They could sound fine.

What are you going to do with the body?

I googled the pat number on the bridge pickup and it came up as a DiMarzio patent. I think I'm going to sand it down and refinish it, then probably just rewire it to standard. I'm open to ideas/suggestions for the body.

Thanks!

Years ago (like back in the '80s) DiMarzio offered a complete line of hardware for "SLO" guitars. IIRC they also sold complete guitar kits. This instrument may in fact be one of those. If so, the situation is not as dire as first deemed.

Thanks for the info!
I read on another forum that the "1NX" is actually a Seymour Duncan pickup. They removed the cover on theirs and it had the logo embossed into the bobbins. I'm still trying to see what the "1b" pickup is. My guess is a Seymour Duncan as well. I still have no idea what the body is.

You are probably right. SD used codes like that to identify the person who wound them.

I noticed the four solder eyes on the neck pickup. Is that pickup a humbucking single coil?

Yes, I think it's a stacked single coil pup.
