Hi guys.

I would like to know if body for my SSS American Standard Stratocaster 2012 is suitable for a humbucker as bridge pickup, and I mean the normal sized humbuckers, not the ones that are made the same size a 1 single coil.

Thanks.

Take off your pickguard and measure the space.

Thanks dude, I'm not that stupid :-D.
I don't have my guitar with me at the moment and thinking of buying a humbucker for it.

Hi,

Your guitar is already routed for humbuckers, no further modification is required.

Just drop an HSS pickguard on it and you're done!

So body carving is the same for HSS and SSS?

For the majority of all modern production Strats (this includes the entire American Standard series), the routing is the same which lets you accommodate a variety of pickup configurations. Heck; the original American Standards had just one large route ("universal" or "swimming pool") under the pickguard so you could even go with a triple humbucker set up if you were so in inclined, but you'd have to be absolutely crazy to do that to a Stratocaster :) !

Unless you opt for the versatility sake and want more from a normal 3-singlecoil guitar.

A triple humbucker configuration with coil tap and split abilities allows for a killer variety of sounds.

Take Note: If you get an original Fender Humbucker the pickguard needs to have two small mounting holes on the low E side and one on the high E side. Everyone else just has one screw mounting hole on each side on the HB pickup.

This is true, but for me, the stock 5 positions are more than adequate. I don't even use the series blender on my Strat much any more.

I've posted this before and it looks like I'm going to do it again :D

I got one of these babies from vineham.com. It looked after my need for a humbucker in my strat.

As per the vendor's description:
Quote:
Here's our steel pole Strat pickups for more output & the classic
p-90 growl these embrace a thicker midrange Gibson tone .
