Hi,

here is a question for you fender experts out there:

I own a MIM Strat (SN: MN6230946) in black which I bought in 1996. I remeber it being a sort of "special edition" (there was a sticker on it saying this). Unfortunately I can´t remember at all which kind of special edition it was (I ripped off the sticker and started playing - I was young and not interested in that kind of issues). Can anybody tell me where I can find out/research something about this special edition? Or does anyone know spontaneously?

Thanx,

Balkanricky

Hi balkanricky,

1996 was the Fender 50th anniversary, and all MIM and MIA Strats had a 50th badge (sticker) on the back of the headstock. For most every MIM Strat produced that year, the only thing "special" about them was the badge. That is, other than the fact that they are Fender, which is special in-and-of-itself.

You can contact Fender with the serial number and get information about that particular guitar. Many times, Rob Schwarz from Fender will see a thread like this and post the info for the guitar.

Hi shimmilou, thank you for the information. Actually, you´re the first one giving me a useful hint (I´ve asked some guitar retailers here in Germany, but they didn´t know very much about my guitar). I clearly remember the sticker being on the pickguard, but since 1996 was Fender´s birthday year its not unlikely that it was a kind of general ad for the anniversary. I´ll ask Fender and get back to post the answer.
