I did not know that Seymour Duncan rewinds pickups either until I spoke to customer service. Here is a link. I was told there is a 7 day turnaround..I will see.

I would have got a Pete Florance Voodoo 57 or 59. Or have him rewind your pickup.

I have 2 spare in a drawer and one in my Am Deluxe.
I put my Am Standard back to 3 singles.
I used to buy tones of Dimarzios and Seymour Duncans and be on a holy grail pickup quest for years.
Spent more on pickups than guitars in my life.
Then I realized if I just worked with the original 498t in my Les Pauls and Fender pickups.
I could get the sounds I wanted.

Looking for an up grade humbucker pickup for my American Standard HSS Stratocaster. One that sounds like the humbucker in my Stratocaster now, only one that "BUCKS" the hum. What are you guys replaceing them with? I was thinking maybe a Seymour Duncan SHPG-1B PEARLY GATES.

So did you get you pickup yet?

So after over a year of deciding which pickup I wanted and researching whether or not I needed a humbucker or trembucker Seymour Duncan Custom for my MIA Deluxe HSS Strat, I finally chose and ordered the trembucker version (TB-5).

After endless reading through the forum to hear peoples experience with installing one of these I decided I'd be better off ordering a custom pickguard. I use the word custom loosely as when it arrived the trembucker was still too wide to fit the routing, even though I specifically asked WD Music to make it wide enough for me. The bobbins just about fit through but the coil winding and tape around the magnet did not.

Another thing I noticed about this pickguard was how much closer the trembucker routing was to the bridge compared to the original. The gap was only 7mm compared to 1.4mm. Had the pickup fit and I took the old pickguard one off, I doubt I would have been able to get the new on on anyway as the body routing probably wouldn't align. Even if I managed to get the new pickup and pickguard in, I doubt I would have been happy knowing that the tone may be affected due to the proximity to the bridge.

I'll be sending this pickguard back and will no doubt have to wait another 4 weeks for the new one to be made.

I guess the word of warning is make sure you have plenty of space for the Seymour Duncan trembucker as they are quite a bit wider than their humbucker counterparts. Warmoth offer the Fat Trembucker option which has the correct radius if you're going for one without a cover, I wish I had gone with these guys the first time around...

Finally, in terms of the pole pieces lining up, I can see very little difference compared with the stock Atomic humbucker.

I joined another band that was a bit darker more radio metal.
I decided to put a Seymour Duncan JB in my strat. I used a Lonestar pickguard and it was a tight fit but it did fit.
I used trembuckers.
