Looking for an up grade humbucker pickup for my American Standard HSS Stratocaster. One that sounds like the humbucker in my Stratocaster now, only one that "BUCKS" the hum. What are you guys replaceing them with? I was thinking maybe a Seymour Duncan SHPG-1B PEARLY GATES.

If your guitar is a post-2012 model, drop in a JB '59 Trembucker pickup and get the same configuration usually found on many Custom Shop Showmasters.

I recommend the Fender Atomic. Its my favorite for retaining the strat sound but being a blazing humbucker.
The Atomic comes in a few color options.
If you are wanting an Aged White model it was called the Hot Rod Humbucker and is easy to find on ebay.
The black one is called the Atomic and its on ebay a lot also.
They ohm out at between 12k and 15k
Fantastic humbuckers.
Beware the DH-1 Diamondback standard tex mex is not the same humbucker.
It looks the same but it is not
it ohms in at about 8.3k and is more like a pearly gates plus.
If you have a HSS strat this is whats in a standard
(A Pearly gates is basically the same humbucker you have with Alnico II or softer sounding maganet)
An Enforcer or Sidewinder ohms in at 24k and is ceramic best compared to a Dimarzio Super Distortion.

Duncan JB. You will not be disappointed.

The Atomic Humbucker is nice also, but, if I recall correctly, the last few years of US Deluxe has come with an Atomic Humbucker.

Yes it does and the American Standard he is asking about comes with the DH-1 Standard Diamonback Tex Mex 8.3k Alnico 5.
On the other note I did just install a Duncan JB in a fellas strat about 2 weeks ago and it wailed.
I was hella impressed with it.
Its like it was made specifically for a strat.
I dropped one in a guys Les Paul and we were both less than impressed.
He wanted the 498t like mine he said I want what you got THAT sounded great.
So a Duncan JB is definatlly a plus in a strat.

If I read your post correctly, it sounds like you are complaining that the humbucker isn't. If that is the case, maybe you should figure out why before you replace the pickup and possibly still have a problem.

I called Fender about the noisy humbucker problem. Fender had me take guitar to a Fender Authorized warranty/repair center, (also same guitar shop were I bought the guitar). I was told by the "Fender Authorized repair center" that the pickup was okay and the noise was normal. I was also told that all wiring was okay. I love the guitar. Plays/feels/sounds great. Only problem is the humbucker pickup makes more noise than the single coil pickups. Neck/middle position is quiet just like my other guitars with single coil pickups. All of my other humbucker guitars are quite. My HSS Stratocaster Neck/Middle quite, Middle/bridge noisy, Bridge noisey. I will be buying a Seymour Duncan JB TB4 ASAP.

I got 3 Fender humbuckers I rotate regularly they don't have any problem.
If you buy a JB I don't think I would let them install it lol.
Can you do it?
Have you done it before?
If not do you know someone that can?

The pickup is either defective or there is a problem in its wiring. In any case, a noisy humbucker is NOT normal. If it turns out that there is a problem in the wiring, a replacement pickup may be just as noisy. I would take it to someone else for a second opinion before spending the money on a new pickup.

I agree with bluesky 636. I also had some shoddy dealings with a Authorized Fender dealer. They eventually came good but I suspect only at the insistence of a Fender rep that visited the shop. So I was lucky.

Get a second opinion of you can, and if that is still a problem contact Fender via the site here. From what I have seen the Fender guys here seems to be on the ball to resolve issues.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I ordered a JB Trembucker today. I'll post picks of my Strat with the new pickup as soon as the pickup is installed.

It's a post-2012 HSS? If yes, it does sport the two Fat 50s in the middle and neck positions.

By pairing them with the '59 Trembucker pickup you'll get the same pickups OEM on many Custom Shop Showmasters!

I'm replacing the humbucker in my NOS 2011 HSS Stratocaster. The neck/mid pickups are Tex-Mex.

Notice your original humbucker uses 3 mounting screws. How many does your new pickup use?

The new pickup has one mounting screw on each side. A screw hole will be drilled between the two screws on the OEM pickguard to accommodate the new pickup..
