I am trying to find out what type or brand of pickups are on my husband's Strat. It is a 2004 50th anniversary. The serial number is Z4027802. I would like to post pictures but cannot figure out how. Thanks. :D

Hi there strat players wife!
Most USA strats made in 2004 carry the 50th anniversary neckplate as you have pictured.
The 50th anniversary American Series Strat does have 54 pickups. Unlike the custom set they could have plastic wiring rather than cloth. It is two tone sunburst i.e. no red in the burst. Hard to tell in you photo but could be two tone.
If yours came with a tweed case with yellow interior and an embroidered logo then it is probably an anniversary strat.
If it came with a normal case then it may be just a series strat made in 2004 and has std series pickups. :D

Thanks to both of you! I don't recall what case it has. I have to ask my husband. I think it came with a regular case. I did see that someone else posted that all made in 2004 had the 50th anniversary plate on the back. Our neighbor told us he thought it had Bill Lawrence pickups but I haven't seen any evidence that it does. Is there a way to look up the serial number and get the specs on it?

Send an e-mail here......

consumerrealtions@fender.com

Include the serial number of the instrument and the representative who handles your inquiry should be able to itemize all details of the guitar as it was manufactured and shipped from Corona. Any subsequent mods by previous owners will not be noted or reported.

The Bill Lawrence Designed pickups or SCNs as they are called were available that year but on the deluxe model which had the serial starting DZ4 etc but were not standard issue on the american series Z4 etc
As Arjay has mentioned send the email to fender and this is the best advice :D

+1

And IIRC, the guitars with the SCN's also featured the S-1 switching option.

The deluxes came with a select alder body, abalone dots on the fretboard and gold hardware.

That is one nice guitar there! ]My husband now seems to remember looking at the 50th anniversary edition, but opting for a less expensive model. Almost ten years later and it took you guys to jog his memory. Thanks again!

I own the American Series 50th Anniverary, and love the Custom Shop '54 pickups.

I'm not a big fan of the noiceless.
