hi ,
i just bought an American standard stratocaster Guitar , and i did remark that the sound volume is a bit low comparing to another guitar that i have , i did use this method to compare between the both guitars .

i did put the volume of my amplifier ( Fender mustang 3 v2 ) in level 2 , and the Ton of volume of my both guitars in level 10 , and i did remark that the sound of my another Guitar is more high than the Americain Fender guitar that i just did buy , even with the same amplifier setting and guitars level volume . some advises ? and thanks for your answers . :)

Hi tommy36: I'm guessing that other guitar of yours maybe has humbucking pickups? Humbuckers usually tend to have a higher output than single-coils.

Nothing wrong or disfunctional about that. It just means that when you switch from your Les Paul (for example) to your Strat you probably need to turn the volume up a bit on the amp, or use a boost pedal - or just play with the volume knobs turned lower on the Les Paul than on the Strat.

Different guitars give different sounds. That's a big part of the point.

Cheers - C

^^Agree^^

You could also put in "hotter" pickups if you want.

Nope, he didn't.

But then he didn't mention much else to give us clues either, so all we can do for now is throw out some suggestions and maybe we'll hit on the right one. More information (make and model of guitars and amp, for starters) will likely yield better responses...

Cheers - C

hi ;
thanks to all for the answers ,

the both guitars have no humbucking pickups , just single coils , the model guitars i did try to compare was : a Fender Americain standard stratocaster Custom Shop Fat ’50s pickups and one old Samick stratocaster ( Etablisched 1958 ) i had it almost since 9 years . ( really one perfect clean sound guitar ) . the result was that the sound of the Samick Guitar was more high than the Fender that i just did buy ( Americain standard stratocaster Custom Shop Fat ’50s ) . i did try today evening the same method to compare this samick guitar with my another Fender American Vintage 65 and it was always the same , the sound of Samick guitar is more high :roll: . thanks for the answers . :) .

Hi again tommy: then two possibilities.

Maybe (but probably unlikely) the Strat has an issue with its wiring that is causing it to have a lower output - a cold solder joint, perhaps. You could compare it with a similar model, perhaps in the store you bought it from, to check that.

More likely, the Samick simply has hotter pickups giving a higher output. In that case the same solution as earlier applies: adjust the amp volume for the different guitars, or use a boost pedal for the quieter one, or turn the Samick's volume knob down a bit when you have that one plugged in.

Cheers - C

I had a similar problem with my MIA Stat with fat 50's. It's not really a problem but the how new strats are wired. If your MIA Strat with Fat 50's is in the neck/mid position make sure both tone knobs are on "10". If the first tone knob is on 10 and the second tone knob is not on 10 the volume will be low. The scond tone knob controls the mid and bridge pickup. The first tone knob controls the neck pickup. If you have your switch on the Neck/mid position...Put the fist tone knob on 10. Now while strumming your guitar turn the second tone knob from 1-10 and you will hear the diff. The same thing will happen when the second tone knob is on 10 and you turn the first tone knob from 1-10. Make sure all the knobs vol, tone tone are on 10 and your guitar wll be loader. Also your second tone control is "No load" on 10.
