I've just bought a new american standard strat. I asked the guty at the store to "flush" the bridge with the body so if I put my hand on the bridge it won't change pitch. He put in some extra springs and tightend the screws in the back. When i came home and wanted to try it out it was to stiff to use? What should I do now?

Remove a spring perhaps? The more springs the tighter the bridge sits, so if you have five in there now try to take one of them out. Then you might need to set the guitar up again to compensate for the lost tension..

The springs are there because people like different tension on their trem arm. You asked the guy to make the trem very stable, so it wouldn't move when you palmed it. So he put on 5 springs to do that. If it's too tight for you you can remove a spring and tighten the trem claw to bring the bridge down where it belongs again. Personally, I like 5 springs.

Sure I can. If I did dive bombs and such I'd use fewer springs. I really just use it for half step tremelo.
