Why do I go on fenders website it's such a tease I been playing fenders half my life love them but we are stuck with low end 2 color options don't get me wrong the standards are just ok there basic the reason I'm writing this is because I just saw the new hot rods 50 and 60 they are so awesome and thanks fender for making 4 leftys versions of the newer American vintage series those are more high end at least. I even called up fender my self and asked please is there any way I can get this custom shop lefty they basically told me it won't be the same guitar mean while I probably don't even have enough money to even call fenders custom shop we all know well maybe not all of us but some where on the site it says they don't have the tools to make leftys and of course where 1 of 50 and probably and most likely leftys do sit on the walls for long periods of time but why can't we have the option why can't they make maybe 25 out of 500 and yes I flipped my guitars upside down before its not the same you try flipping yours upside down I'm sorry for the rant you guys but imagine you saving up your hard earned cash from working like a dog and when you want to reward your self you can't get what you want but the Stones said it the best....anyways I hope one day I don't have to spend triple the amount for a Strat I want

Does Warmoth sell lefty bodies? It would be cheaper to get what you want from them and use a righty Fender neck.

I did that to get a doubleneck for a lot less than the Custom Shop would charge.

I know Fender has a very limited batch of southpaw guitars and basses, which is very sad for lefties; it's an attempt to cut production costs and save money.

Of course the Custom Shop is the only route to choose for a southpaw.

Unfortunately CS instruments are extremely expensive and unsuitable for everyone's budget.

Please use sentences if you want people to read.

Being a lefty you need to be flexible. I won't pay anyone's CS prices just for LH, so I go looking for guitars that offer decent left choices, if that's not Fender, then stuff them.

Looking for an acoustic at present, and it's more than refreshing to see that Martin will make a Left version of practically every guitar in their range, even the entry levels ones, at no extra cost. But you do need to order, so it will be "custom" made.

The problem with this is, Fender make for so many niche market guitars these days. They want to also plug all the gaps that modders will fill themselves. Such markets aren't viable to make a left version for too. Hell, most of their product concepts aren't viable RH and don't last long.

But as for LH of their basic range which is still pretty expansive, it's pitiful. LH handers are 10% of the population, so we'd be around the same numbers in the guitar playing population. But Fender wouldn't come close to producing 10% of their range LH. 10 guitars? that's closer to it...

You should learn to play a guitar the "right" way.

And yes, please use some punctuation, as without it, reading your posts is arduous.

As a lefty you either have the choice of a small selection of cheap bottom end guitars or top end custom shop guitars. Not much in between. Thank God though for the custom shop where you can now custom order exactly what you want.

Alternatively, Fender Japan offer a good selection of lefties. Gretsch is also offering quite a few lefties these days. Much more than anyone else I think. Someone high up at Gretsch must be left handed! :D

While there are cheap guitar aplenty for lefties, there are a decent selection of good guitars - if you consider all manufacturers and styles as a whole, and don't have a fixed preference. Gibson and Epi are very lefty friendly across their range. Fender suck. A MIM, a MIA, a Deluxe and a RI in a handful of colours.

In acoustic, Martin produce a fair range of lefts already, but will make anything in their range in left, if you order, at no extra cost. That is truly being lefty friendly, and other makers should take note.

One other alternative when specific specs are desired would be to go the Warmoth way (or other similar parts builders). Many possible options and much cheaper than custom shop. I certainly like the idea of choosing every detail of a guitar exactly to my preference.

I often pondered the idea of building my own damn guitars so frustrated I was with the poor selection of lefties available out there... I feel your pain believe me.

I vote Warmoth body and Fender neck.
It won't be a pure dyed-in-the-wool Fender but it will be the colour and options you want in the orientation of your choice.

Plus Warmoth offers a couple of options on their bodies that you can't get from Fender.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
