Hi all,

just needed a bit of assistance with the wiring in question.

Took out the pick-guard today to have a perv and found a free wire that comes from the tremolo bar mechanism.

Where does it goes?? :?: :?: :?:

Hi that's your ground to the back of your volume pot.
Turn your volume pot down to 0 before you solder it back on.

Looks like somebody has been mucking with the solder joints, and done a very poor job of it. I hope that the rest of the solder joints don't look that bad, and that there are no more burn marks on the guitar.

Hi,
Soooooo, the ole..... "Where the **** does this wire go?" question eh?...

Well, this wire is part of the earthing strategy in a Stratocaster.....

When wiring up a Stratocaster, a good way to keep the circuit relatively quiet is to wire all of the earths back to a single point (usually, this turns out to be the back of the volume pot).
This is called Star Earthing by some....
Using this method, an additional wire can be run from the back of the volume pot to the tremolo claw for yet another earth point which makes it quieter still....
I suggest this is the wire you have there...and as you know... the guitar will still work with this wire un-attached, and is usually forgotten by many who change their pickups every fortnight(because it can make manipulation of the scratch plate more difficult).

So, do what thou wilt..... but if it's too noisy......
...your to old!!!!..
hehe.
Hope that helped...
P.
