I currently have a candy apple red, rosewood fretboard, chrome hardware, Standard MIM HSS Strat. I recently bought a new loaded pick guard from Dragonfire pickups ( Red Tortoise Shell pickguard with Cream color pickups, 5-way switch cap, and volume and tone knobs). I also bought all new Genuine Gold hardware for the Strat. So what is the post about? Well, I'm not gonna just sit here while all that original chrome hardware and fender pickguard setup goes to waste! My plan is to simply go online and find a MIM neck and a MIM Body in order to put all of my old chrome parts and loaded pickguard into. Following me? Bottom line is this.....

I need to know if, for example, I buy a 2005 MIM Strat body... will a 2008 MIM Strat neck fit? *****I have no year model in mind, just want to know if they will work together, despite the year that they were made in? im only looking at models from 2002 to present. ANY help is appreciated. Thanks!

One thing you will need to be sure to pay attention to is that when you buy a tremolo block, it will be drilled slightly different for the MIM. Just make sure you get one specific for that model. If you have a little money laying around, I would highly recommend a tremolo block from Callaham. They will run you $63, but I have retrofitted all three of my Strats with them and they help tremendously with getting that Strat tone we all look for. *(Stop reading now if you are bored)* The reason has to do with the cold rolled steel that the Callaham blocks are made of allows for the strings to vibrate and resonate better while resting against it. I'm saving up for some saddles next!

A 2002 MIM Strat should have the same screw spacing so that a standard 6 screw trem will drop right in.... I did this with my Crimson Red Strat a well as a standard body....
But a 98 MIM body will have a different spacing to the 6 screws, it's not off by much, a few mm's but enough so that they are not retrofittable....
Personally I prefer to just drop in a fender Trem when all the rest is Fender... Just like synchronicity in any of my projects...

As far as the necks, they all should fit except if you find a 70's reissue neck, whitch is a 3 bolt/screw versus the 4 bolt common... Width of the neck should be fine in the pocket, a small variance but that should be all...

The Nutter had a great Builds compilation thread, where many of us have various builds all under one tent.. so to speak....

Good luck and pics required or it didn't happen.....
