Im gonna go back and check see if it comes with jumbo frets if so it would be a decent deal.
I clicked the links and it didnt say anything about fret size. I imagine the humbucker is just a standard tex mex 8.3 kohm wired for splitng. The S-1 makes me wonder if they used that instead of the 5 way super switch to split the humbucker as on the Lone Star.

I found specs they did use S-1 to turn of a coil instead of the super switch and it has medium jumbo frets like the rest of Mexican Strats.

Seems that Fender should have done something more interesting withe the S-1 than just using it for a coil split. I guess you could always tinker with the wiring and come up with your own custom switching scheme, I would have been happy with just the Super Switch. When I had my Lone Star, I wired the switch so that I got the neck pickup combined with the front coil of the humbucker in position 3. Not only did this sound like a Tele, but it was also hum cancelling.

I don't know it seems like a good idea compared to the super switch one.
Probably cheaper and same effect.
Im with chromeface I would pull it and toss it and put a 250k back in.

This one has been being kicked around in my mind since I saw it. I need a 3 tone sunburst.

There's no DH-1 on these models. Fender used a massive-sounding Twinhead humbucking pickup in the bridge to complement the two Texas Special single-coils in the neck and middle.

Have you had a chance to try this new humbucker to confirm that it is "massive-sounding"? There is no need for a particularly hot humbucker to match the Texas Specials. The original Lone Star used a variant of Seymour Duncan's Pearly Gates which is not a high-output pickup; and yet still, some people still had issues with the humbucker overpowering the singles.

Good question. :?:

The Dh-1 Diamondback is the 8.3k Alnico 5 I almost bet this is a Atomic Hot Rod 15k Alnico like the American Special Highway 1.
Its just a guess but Maybe it is the Tex Mex Standard DH-1 Diamondback twin head etc etc etc 8.3k lol! The Pearly Gates Plus was 8k as well.

Ugh... they couldn't color match the bucker to the single coils???

I too think I would miss the Pearly Gates Plus bucker - kind of what made a Lonestar a Lonestar as opposed to any other HSS Strat.

The color matching thing isn't a big deal to me, but I agree with you on the Pearly Gates Plus - it was a unique feature to the Lone Star (and Big Apple). For me, however, the PG+ kind of left me wanting something a bit more so I would be inclined to try a Custom 5 instead.

They made a great guitar worse... 70's headstock? Really? Why are they forcing that upon us!? Come on, no one wanted the Highway 1 or American Special with the cheezy 70's headstock, so why change an excellent guitar to this? I'd rather see them have the humbucker or single coil bridge available in either the Lonestar or Roadhouse... Not put the 70's leftover necks from the unsold American Special/Highway 1 bargain bin...

Don't get my wrong, I have an Highway 1 for those moments I want to rock some Hendrix stuff, but I like the smaller headstock.... I like the 70's one, but they are casually applying it to way too many guitars now. Totally killing off an excellent line of guitars Fender.
