Now with S1 switching, 22 frets, large headstock, different humbucker, and new colors. Burgundy mist and ocean turquoise have maple fretboards. Black and 3TSB have rosewood fretboards.

I guess the new colors are OK, but I'd miss that Pearly Gates.

SWEET!!!! I wonder, though, if this could also be a sign that the American Specials may be coming to an end?

Not sure about the black humbucker with the aged white single coils... Would prefer a matching humbucker.

Perhaps Fender has a matching Roadhouse variant in the works to complement the newly revised Lone Star Strat.

Now thanks to Fender I'm GASsing for a Deluxe Big Apple Strat with a Twinhead in the neck and an Enforcer in the bridge!!!

I guess they are Mexican made. Love the large headstock.

I guess there must be a lot of Large headstock fans out there.

The older Lonestars lacked off the S-1 switch.

Personally I would replace the dreaded S-1 with a push-pull switch like that found on the American Special Mustang.

There's no DH-1 on these models. Fender used a massive-sounding Twinhead humbucking pickup in the bridge to complement the two Texas Special single-coils in the neck and middle.

Have you had a chance to try this new humbucker to confirm that it is "massive-sounding"? There is no need for a particularly hot humbucker to match the Texas Specials. The original Lone Star used a variant of Seymour Duncan's Pearly Gates which is not a high-output pickup; and yet still, some people still had issues with the humbucker overpowering the singles.
