Not sure, much of the layout doesn't make sense, but when the bean counters are in charge, the product and consumer demand takes a backseat .
It's easy enough to change since Leo designed the Strat and Tele to be completely accessible to the musician....
That is the key word.... Musician not consumer. We actually had a discussion along those lines last night in one of my classes.
Where the engineering / accounting dept's forget to ask the Sales force as to what is the current market feedback.
I didn't say consumer as that invokes a purchaser based on fashion,,,
Rather than an actual need for a certain product.

Thanks All.....
Sometimes today i plan on resolving the Tremolo. I have enough parts that should work.

Trem resolved.... None of my parts fit so the trem is stock except for adding 2 additional springs.
Some of the saddle screws were stuck and needed some TLC.
Also needed to set up, both for intonation as well as string height and neck contour...
I set up all my Strats to the 21st fret neck contour / curve. In this case it was a 9.5 radius gauge.

Next was a playability test.... Hmmm.....
Played thru my vintage Magnatone, it sounds good, but not quite as clear cut as I had hoped for.
Further measuring revealed that the pups poles are not set to correct or optimal height.
having replaced the pick guard it is a simple oversight....

Here it is an hour after I started this update, poles are set at 2.4 mm ( bass ) 2.0 ( treble ).
Much better, the sound is clearly different than my other Strat's so that is a plus...
