Hi everyone!
I just bought my first Strat, It's used so i dont know much about it.
I know it's an American Strat made in Corona California between 2000 and 2001 and it's a 3 tone Sunburst with 3 single coil pickups.
Which leads me to why i am here....
I would like to know what kind of guitar I have, ie is it a Standard etc and what type of pickups and wood are used in my guitar.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Here is my SN if that will help ZO144534

Any help would be appreciated!

I plan to play it through a Traynor YCV40
I usually play a Taylor GS acoustic through a Bose L1 model 2 PA which is absolutely fantastic!!!

If anyone would like to hear what I do my site is www.BillyBlaze.net

Thanks guys!

Welcome to the Forum!

Sounds like an American Standard to me. Posting some pics would help us out.

Excellent. Sounds like a good deal to me, but the important things is: Are you happy with it?

Actually, YES.
I haven't had a chance to play it plugged into a good amp yet, but it plays really well and feels comfortable to play, I cant wait to get my Traynor.
I had a 72 thinline tele back in the day when I was a kid and loved it.
Unfortunately I brought it out around the wrong folks and it was stolen back in the mid 80's
I have owned a Les Paul studio, an Ibanez JS1000 and JS2000.
Always wanted a Strat but wanted to save for an American Strat, this one popped up and I thought it was a good deal so I snagged it up.
Primarily I play the acoustic as I am a singer songwriter solo act, but wanted this for studio recording and to have fun with.

Here's some more info on the guitar, still haven't been able to take any pictures....
It's a 3 tone sunbusrt, looks like the body is 3 pieces.
It has a Maple neck with single string tree says made in usa and original contour body.
3 single coils with 016730 printed on the back of them.
On the back of the pickguard there are an R and an M5.
Inside the pickup routed holes there are 2 colored stickers one says C30 and the other says T1.
The SKU under the neck pickup says 0054014-999.
on the butt of the neck there is Oct 11 2000.
the body says C54014 and 10/6/2000.
This is my first Strat and I would like to know what kind it is and what sort of pickups these are.
I am not familliar with any of the identifying marks that Fender uses, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Do you guys use anopther forum that might be able to identify my strat by the numbers i provided?
or have a contact at Fender that can help?

I have owned Gibsons, Ibanez, Taylor, and Takamine and this is the hardest time I have ever had identifying a guitar's pickups and body or model.
I would think after being around so long Fender would have come up with a better system than this.

am i missing something?

Looks like it's a Standard Strat.
I like it except for 2 things.

1. My hand is getting stock on the back of the neck, reminds me of my old Les Paul...and that makes for labored playing when my hand doesn't slide freely. I am thinking about using some very fine sand paper and taking that finish off the back of the neck.
I had a JS1000 and JS2000 with a natural finish neck and didn't have this problem.

2. My fingers are getting stuck on the frets, it's easier to play my acoustic.
So I thought I might take it in and have the frets dressed and ramped to lower the action and reduce finger hang ups on the fret bars.

Other than those two fixable things I am really enjoying the Strat, i am running 10's on it now but may go up a little if the fret redress doesn't fix my tendency to fret hard.

Thanks for the help.
Oh I picked up a G&G deluxe tweed case for it too, with orange lining....schweeeeet

Just a hint: don't use sandpaper; wrong thing for the job. You need grade 0000 steel wool, available readily and cheaply from any hardware or tool store. This will allow you easily to go at that neck just to the point where the finish goes matte - and then stop. You don't want to go through the finish, and you don't want to risk scoring lines into it, which might happen with sandpaper.

Cheers
