Howdy all, I need some of your knowledge. I'm looking at putting some locking tuners on my leftie strat (standard strat, nothing special) I'm looking on the fender website but can't see anything that would fit my strat, any suggestions? I've found locking tuners on the website but would have to spend $100 on them because they're sold individually. Also, and i probably know the answer to this question but i have to ask anyway, would it be possible to put any of the american vintage setups (bridge, tuners, etc.) on my strat?

American Standard Stratocaster ??? Or another ?

Why replace tuner ? They work good , I have some strat , one with locking tuner , do not work better than stndard tuner . Just easy and faster to replace string.

Fender F locking tuners are more the half of $100.00. The holiday weekend will be starting soon and you can get an even better deal on Fender Locking tuners.

Check carefully for the size , some locking tuner could not fit in MIM . And I think they need a bigger holes in your peg head. Not easy to do to keep in center.

Are left handed tuners reversed from righties? :? I really don't know, but anyway, finding the correct tuners is just the start.

You need to know what size your tuner peg holes are now, probably 10mm. That is the modern larger size. The vintage peg hole is 8.7mm.

That doesn't sound like a big difference but it's a LOT of wood to try to sand away and if you drill it yourself, you need to get it in exactly the right place, precisely round and not crack the headstock in the process.

To use a smaller size tuner post is a fairly easy project, using conversion bushings. To go the other way, larger, is more difficult.

Here's a Fender Support article: http://www.fender.com/support/articles/fender-guitar-tuning-machine-replacement/

Either way, you may find that you need to make small adjustments in your peg hole. I was faced with that chore recently and got good advice from forum member/guru Ceri, see my post: What's the back of your neck like? http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=87958. Go about 2/3 of the way down.

Good luck with your project, I like Locking (and staggered) tuners too.

The MIA and MIM Standard use the same Locking tuners. I have used them on my USA ans Mexican Strat. They are drop in replacements. No drilling or modifications needed.

Really? The F style worked on the MIM? I'll take your word for it, i checked the website and it says they won't fit on standard strats
