I have a 2012 Fender American Deluxe Strat (Olympic White Metallic with a shell pickguard, SSS noiseless pickups). The pickups are so noiseless that they seem to be down about 10% in output compared to conventional Strat pickups. Other than running it through my Boss EQ to beef it up, can anything else be done other than replacing the pickups? I have them at factory recommended height.

Thanks

Turn up your amp, or get a better amp. :?:

+1

It's only a problem if your amplifier has run out of head room.

Seems the pickups are defective, hence's why they sound weak.

I have found all those noiseless pickups sort of act like that.
Im not a fan of them anymore
If you have a noise gate in your amp or floor board the benefits of true single coil pickups are worth it.
I ran Dimarzio Areas Virtual Vintage and Injectors for a long time.
A good set of Tex Mex beats them for a real single coil sound.
I can get Vintage sounds like Hendrix Aerosmith Floyd all the way to modern John 5
What I do is take the Hot Alnico 3s and push out the magnet rods and replace them with standard non stagger alnico 5 rods heats tha pickup up for the most yacky quacky spankin strats you ever heard.
The coils ohm in at about 11-12 kohm with output like a humbucker.

Defective pickups usually lose more than just 10% of their output.

Yes i take alnico 5 rods out of standard or tex mex pickups you need to take a sharpie marker and put a Black dot on the back side of each rod so as to keep your polarity right.
I use a T handle 1/8 allen wrench to push them out. place pickup in hand so the magnet comes out between fingers. Be careful they are sharp and it takes force.
Hot Alnico 3 pickups are becoming rare as they stopped making them. I leave the middle alnico 3 and just do bridge and neck alnico 5.
In my personal guitars I run Atomics or Hot Rod humbuckers so I just do the neck. They balance with humbuckers much better than 6k or 8k single coil pickups.

Be sure to push from back side so as not to damage coil wire.

You are risking damaging the coil wire no matter which way you push out the magnets. Sure, you might get away with it sometimes, but it is still very risky, especially when you try to put them back in.

Yah, it's not something I think I would be willing to risk.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.
