Other than the obvious color difference, if they both appear the same, with the same thickness and approx same number of turns, I would guess there is no difference as all.

The different strings provide different tension. Always try have matching springs whether you 3, 4, or 5. Then getting the setup done. There is a fine balance on trem setup.

Silver for vintage trem and black for modern 2-point trem. They have different operational charistics like tension, etc.

I recall postings of questions regarding the difference between
modern and vintage trem systems and the correct number of springs to be mounted??

Every new question brings a new source of information and increases everyone's knowledge base. There's a veritable ocean of facts out there which are brought to this forum and we all benefit.
