OP... You asked for help, we asked for additional pics so we can see the neck from 4 or 5 different viewpoints....
That is the norm, just a zoomed in headshot won't tell us anything, or is it that you want to know how to pass off a copy :?

And stop being defensive as if every Q is a diss...

BTW... An original 62 neck would have an orange red patina, would have a few scratches and dings and would have the slotted tuners.. Although if this really was a 62, the price would have been quite high and no one in their right mind would give a vintage neck away.

That will have to wait till morning. but if the neck is fake, why does it say fender stratocaster on it? I thought that would be illegal.
I'm not trying to pass off a copy, I don't know if it's a copy or not at this point. this is why I asked in the first place.

It's a waterslide decal, easily acquired and just as easy to apply, the trick is knowing the correct font and sequence of letters and numbers for that particular time period.

If you want to see high end Fake Fender copies, then go to Nash's site, I won't elaborate but he's been quite blatant in the copy mode.....

I won't say fake, it is most likely from a reissue, but that does not look like a 50 year old Fender neck to me (53mag listed what we'd expect to see).

Couple of other details I'm noticing from that pic.

(1) There should not be two string tree's
(2) Neither of the tree's should have what looks like square head screws, they should be a phillips round head.
(3) The decal should be above the finish and have its edge highlighted by the camera flash
(4) those tuners are far too tight from post to sleeve to be from the early 60's, they do look a lot like Squier tuners....
(5) The font on " synchronized tremolo " is uneven, thin letters next to thicker letters,
not from 62 or I'm afraid from Fender...

Sorry OP but there are too many details that don't fit a 62 even a reissue...

I definitely want to see where the truss rod adjusts from.. Head stock or neck butt...

OK....Let's, for talking point, assume that the OP's inquiry is legit. So for the benefit of all concerned, here's the bottom line:

We can ease your pain and get you on your feet again. Relax!. We need some information first. Just the basic facts based upon the information you provided in your initial inquiry and the first request made of you...Kindly show:

-the back and face of the headstock including the nut-medium distance and up close so we can see the tuning keys
-the neck end-medium distance and up close
-the entire fretboard-full length
-the back of the neck-full length
-the empty neck pocket of the body-medium distance up
close
-the neck end seated passively in the pocket-medium distance and up close

Hopefully, thereafter, we will have dispensed with all the yadayada and there'll be no more "Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!"

Doc

I can understand why you are all so suspicious. but I can assure you that I am not trying to pass of a fake neck as a real one. if it is fake or from a reissue then that's fine, at least I will know what it is. I think the neck has been bought elsewhere and then fitted to the body as it doesn't quite fit the body correctly. the heel is 55.5mm wide and the neck pocket is about 58mm wide.
if it is from a time when the serial number was printed on the neck plate then this is missing the original neck plate, the one on the guitar now it a plane one.
I can tell the tuners have been replaced as there is a hole that has been filled on the back of the headstock. the nut looks quite old and although you might not be able to see it very well, the frets look to have been well used even though there are no dings in them. there is also what looks to be green paint on the heel of the neck.
I think an extra string tree has been added too.
this was done by a friend who knows less about guitars than I do. I mean, I know how to play them and maintain them, but I'm clueless when it comes to old guitars.
hopefully the photos I have added will explain a bit more. if you need any more information then please feel free to ask.

Comparing with this:
Strat 1962
I'd not buy that for the price of a real 1962 neck...

If it's a squire neck then how has someone been allowed to put fender stratocaster logos on it? the logos aren't on top of the lacquer either, they are under it.
I also can't explain the green paint on the heel of the neck. fender don't sell guitars with green bodies anymore do they?
the tuners have been changed, you can see where a screw hole has been filled near the tuners.

Your neck shows an extra pat number under the stratocaster logo. 2.9600.900.

That's because it's a real Fender neck from 1962. Stratocasters made after the spring of that year featured three patent numbers.
