I recently acquired a guitar from a friend.
I have no information as far as the body is concerned. the neck is too small for the neck cavity and I believe it is a 62 neck, possibly original.
the neck has no serial number on the front or back of the headstock, it also has no date printed on the heel of the neck and the tuners have been changed at some point.
the information on the headstock is as follows:
fender stratocaster
with synchronized tremolo
pat 2.573.254 2.741.146 original contoured body
pat pend

I'm not sure if this is a real neck or if it is a fake. I have found similar 62 necks with the same pat numbers on them, the older necks don't include the pat numbers and neither do the reissues.
Thanks in advance for any help.

What does your friend say it is?

We can't say anything without seeing pictures.

+1

"Visual aids" would be a big help in nailing down the pedigree.

Why don't you offer an explanation instead of trying to be a smart arse.

Just to round things off for us could you post a pic of the truss rod opening, the heal of the neck and the 12th fret.

I do know that the tuners have been changed at some point. I can see where a small hole has been filled on the back of the head stock.

Explanation:

Are you trying to be deceiving by not showing the important details asked for? A shot of the entire headstock, front and back, the heel of the neck, maybe even a shot of the entire front and back of the neck. So far, it looks fake.

This is why we want better shots of the neck.

If it's fake then I don't need to post any more photos.
as for me trying to hide certain parts of the neck because I know it's fake, I don't know anything about the neck which is why I asked about it.

Then just post some more shots then ... what have you got to lose?

If it is fake then you are helping the community by way of showing what a fake looks like, and if it is the real thing then all good for you.
