Hi.

What's the alternative for powdered block saddles on 2-point trems from American Series back in the 2000's? The thing is these have the screwhole off the center unlike the vintage type.

Also I read somewhere but can't remember where that Fender switched to a different baseplate alloy in 2007? Does this mean plates were problematice before that? Any good alternatives?

I would be glad for any info on the matter.

Thanks!

When Fender revised the American Series to the "new" American Standards in 2008 they changed to bent saddles with center-mounted adjustment screws, necessitating the change of the bridge plate. It wasn't that there were issues with the older plates (used on original American Standards and American Series Strats); they were just making a change.

You can get plenty of different style replacement saddles with the offset adjustment screws - Graphtec has them, Callaham has bent saddles with the offset screws, etc. Just do a search for them.

You can also replace the older bridge with the newer bridge assembly from Fender.

I wouldn't want to change the block saddles for bent ones. I'd like to get new stainless steel block saddles that are compatible with the bridge plate I have. Most of the aftermarket block saddles have hole in the center and are meant to replace old bent ones.

Okay - I misunderstood; it seems like a lot of people want to replace the cast ones with bent steel ones like what Callaham has.

Unfortunately all I could turn up on a quick google search for "offset saddles" were Fender's replacement cast saddles and Graphtec String Savers. It appears that Stew-Mac no longer has offset saddles but Allparts and a few other places do. Good luck on your search for solid steel ones.
