I have a mim Stratocaster but I really want to play Stoner/sludge style rock and the pups aren't cutting it. Seymour Duncan Hot rails seem like they might be what I'm looking for, high output noiseless pickups, I just wonder if anyone has experience with hotrails?

how do the hotrails compare to a PAF style humbucker? and would it be wise to put one in the neck position? (my preferred position for that sludge tone) or are there other alternatives that would fit my MIM strat and provide a better tone for this style?.

What in the world is Stoner/Sludge metal rock? Hot rails are ok I had one in my strat but never quite cared to much for it but I like cleaner sound.

I took that liberty with one of my 90s vintage MIM Strats - I stuck in a set of Mighty Mite split rails and I am very happy with the sound. Overdriven, this guitar screams and the three pickups give it a little more versatility than your standard double humbucker guitar.

When I play it clean it also sounds very nice and bluesy and no hum of any kind.
