I know that Jag pickups were designed as an improvement over Strat pickups. My question is, how would you describe the tonal difference between Strat and Jaguar pickups?

I've been thinking about getting an offset guitar, but I've been leaning towards the Jazzmaster. I wanna have lots of tonal options and I already have a Strat. So the Jazzmaster's pickups are a lot different than a Strat.

What if I put Jag pickups in my Strat? Never seen anyone do that. Would they even fit? I have no idea what the construction of a Jag pickup is like

Ideas? Comments? Anyone done this already?

I believe the Jag pickup's bobbins are wider than a conventional Strat pickup. Likely, the pickup routs would need to be enlarged accordingly -- perhaps too much for a standard Strat pickguard to accommodate.

Hmmmm, I don't think I've ever seen specs for Jaguar pickups. Anyone know how they spec out? Wire gauge? Magnets?

Everything is possible except the pickguard needs to be modified to accommodate Jag pickups and sliding switches.

Oh, you can use Jaguar pickups with a regular 5-way Strat selector if you don't like those complex switches! :D
