Still out of my price range, no matter how sweet it looks...and possibly sounds.

You and me both, I am just a working guitar player.. no way I could afford that

Looks like it's been in a closet for decades. Original owner must have stored it well. Dig that grain on the neck

+1, That is one of the most beautiful stratocaster necks I've ever seen. 8)

Ditto...and my '58 Stratocaster did not have such a grain pattern in the wood. It was a 11/58 build and the sunburst was not as pronounced as this one. Further more, the case is far more battered than the condition of the guitar would have one expect it to be. After 55 years, I would expect more yellowing in the copy of the case candy.

Another 'toy in the attic'?? I wonder.

I just made an offer for $42500. JK   Wow, this is one of the cleanest I have ever seen. I kind of like the vintage "aged" guitars though. It lends toward their authenticity and general vibe.

Understood. It looks just like Alain's '58..the "Buddy" This is a tough one, particularly where the grain in the neck is concerned. Never seen Strats of that vintage with that kind of wood.

I suppose anything is possible. The current issue of Vintage Guitar contains an article about a recent discovery regarding the earliest known Gretsch 6120 which, ironically, was once gifted to and owned by Eddie Cochrans's nephew. An interesting 'must read'.
