I've been playing a 40th anniversary Fender Strat. I modified it with locking tuners and a Callaham bridge.

It sounds great but I REALLY miss having a humbucker in the bridge position.

I worried that if I buy a Fender strat with a humbucker in the bridge position, I won't get that famous "quack" in the 4th position when I play my strat with 3 single coils.

Even though the coil in the bridge humbucker will be tapped in the 4th position, I'm afraid it will be A CLOSE facsimile to that great quack when using a strat with 3 single coils, but not the same tone.

Do you know of any Fender strats with 2 single coils and a humbucker in the bridge that are good quality?

Let me know which strats I should be checking out. There are too many choices and I'm confused.

Thanks!

Dan

I also have 40th anniversary Fender Strat. But its a Japanese model.
If you want a humbucker I'd highly recommend Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge position. while being a humbucker its still the size of a start single coil.
I have been using one for few months now and Im really satisfied with its performance.
I bought it for 75$ from eBay. You can always go for a used one for about 40$. Its pretty easy to install ones you go through the wiring diagram they provide with the pickup. Took me only about 15 mins.

Here's a link to the product from the official site.
