Can anyone help me to figure out if the guitar on sale is an Authentic Fender Stratocaster Mexican Electrical Guitar?.
I'm reffering to this link https://lak.lk/fender-statocaster-mexican-electric-guitar/1978 There are few images and it's beautiful but very hard to tell the originality. If there's anyone who could identify the guitar and tell me details which would prove its authenticity, it would be a great help. The price converted to dollars would be around $250. I really need your support. THANK YOU! :D :)

The serial number comes back from the Fender database (https://www.fender.com/product-registra ... ial-search) as a MIM Standard HSS, color in the picture is black.
So that doesn't check out to the SSS Sunburst guitar in your link.
I'd also expect only one string tree - and even if someone added another, the first is a bit weirdly placed.

So, I'm enclined to believe it's a fake. And I'd imagine the price for a real MIM Strat in Sri Lanka should be higher.

I agree. The string trees look the wrong shape to me and "Fender" on a MiM neck plate?
The truss rod cavity looks like it is painted as the inside is rough.

That and the discrepancy in the serial number would be enough to put me off.

It's not a Mexican Fender.
The headstock is nowhere near the correct shape, and that's the first of many anomalies.

It is a fake.

The ad/auction is not loading anything more than a basic description for me, but without even following the link, from the URL, I can tell you that it is absolutely not real.
Fender made guitars in one factory in Fullerton in 1978. The Mexico factory did not even exist, and they were not yet licensing and branding the Japanese copies.
A 1978 Strat would have a bullet truss rod and 3-bolt neck plate with micro-tilt.
It would have a B/W/B pickguard and black knobs and pickup covers.
Anything else claiming to be a '78 Strat is either not a Fender product, or not original.

He shoots, he scores. Well done that man. I just had one of those "Duh! Of course!" moments. :-)

Does that 1978 belong to the guitar at all? I tried 1976, 1979 etc; and the webpage begins to show different adds for motorcycles, houses and whatever, so maybe it's just part of the web address.

Anyways, the guitar is fake.

I'm beginning to have my doubts about the authenticity of the user.
