Can someone help me figure out if the guitar on sale is an Authentic Fender Stratocaster.
The following link is the advertisement to what Im referring. There's only one image so its pretty hard to tell anything. But there's anyone who could identify tiny details which would prove its authenticity, it would be a great help. The price converted to dollars would be around $200. THANKS!! :D

Is this a second hand model? $200 is really pretty cheap for an american one, by the looks of it, it looks like a fender american special, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The pickguard stickers are still on and it makes it look like an american, although the plastic is peeling a little. I would want to check and see it in real life first before making the transaction. It is quite hard to have a good look, given the one picture which doesn't have that much resolution anyway.

Yeah, the price IS a bit low, and something seems off about it, though I can't really pinpoint anything specific from the photo itself. Could be the color and the finish.

Hi diablo1206,

Fake! At least it's not a Fender Strat, maybe a Squier, but certainly a fake decal that doesn't match the neck. The fact that it doesn't have a truss rod adjust hole plug, is a dead giveaway, among other things. It might be worth $200 though....to someone. :|

It cant be a Squier and also it does have a trust rod. (there's the whole in the headstock for the Allen key) I called the person and asked him to mail me a pic of the serial number and the back plate. Ill post them ASA i get. Thanks guys!

P.S yeah its a Brand new Fender American Special. The guy selling doesn't seem to know anything about guitars or what so ever. he claimed that he got 2 guitars from abroad. I just dont want to miss such a great deal.

No American Fender has a bare maple hole for the truss rod adjuster. Modern-styles have a dark walnut plug with a hole in the center.

No Mexican Fender (or Korean or any other Fender) has a bare maple hole for the truss rod adjuster. Those have a black plastic tube lining the hole for the truss adjuster.

Vintage-style Fenders have the truss adjuster at the heel of the neck (no hole on the headstock).

I repeat: no genuine Fender of any type has a bare maple hole on the headstock.

It's easy to replace a Squier decal with a Fender decal. And there is a flood of fake counterfeit Fenders coming out of China.

At best, the seller is a sucker who really thinks that thing is a Fender. At worst he knows it's a fake and is trying to rip you off.

Don't be a sucker. Everyone has told you it's a fake.

Why do you think so?

Yes, that guitar does have a truss rod. It does NOT, however, have a walnut plug in the truss rod hole (= a piece of darker wood that would clearly be visible in the picture).

I don't think so. Compare the headstock, decals, truss rod hole plug, the placement of string trees etc. with this:

That's your choice. I'd trust this forum's opinion that it's a fake.

Edit: Sorry, strayedstrater- I'm basically repeating what you said, but a couple of seconds late... :)

A fool and his money will inevitably be separated due to ignorance and the gentleman seems determined to follow the paradigm. At this point, all we can do is stand on the sidelines and cheer with glee......

Just to let you know, fender ja90 doesn't have any trussrod hole plug.

OK, no Fender bolt-neck Strat has a naked truss hole. Set-neck Telecasters with tune o matic bridges and stop tailpiece are odd exceptions.

Im just gonna stick with this I guess. :D :D Thanks everyone for the help!! really appreciate!
In the mean time ill post images from the seller if he mails me. Just to confirm its a knockoff. Then I'm gonna make sure that he doesn't fool anyone to sell his guitar as a genuine Fender.

Thanks Again!
