YEP!

FYI in your place I'd buy an American Deluxe HSS which has already a factory-installed bridge humbucker rather than modding a Deluxe SSS.

Yeah, that's always the case, and sometimes you have to loosen the screws to get the plastic out. I haven't removed the plastic from mine yet, I thought that the volume knob would pull off just like the tone knobs, but I'm not sure. Anyone here know?

I believe that he was referring to modding the Squier, not the Deluxe. In fact, for some reason, you edited out the word "Squier" from the quote. :?

By the way, I notice many of you have multiple strats. So do you treat them like separate guitars altogether? Or do you use one of your best strats as a main and the rest only as backups? Just wanna know your personal use of them.

To be honest I think my squier is very playable and awesome in it's own way but a part of me feels silly to be playing it as my main sometimes, especially since I have a new strat :/, maybe it's the price difference and all getting to my head.

Just need to know your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Oh, OK. Sorry about that chromeface. Usually if you edit your post after a reply by another poster, it will show that an edit has occurred at the bottom of your post. Apparently chromeface started his reply and then you edited your post before he finished his.

I treat each of mine as an individual, and I choose which guitar to use based on the situation and/or the sound that I want. The Blacktop paired with a MB TA-15 has the best crunch for hard rock sounds. The 62 HR with a HRDlx has the sweetest chimey clean sound. The Am Dlx seems to cover a lot of ground very well with most any amp, but not quite as crunchy as the Blacktop, nor as sweet as the 62. The Am Std is very crispy with a Laney Cub 10. Then there is.......OK, you get it by now. 8)

The knobs for each pot are removable. If you're unsure about how to release the one that's resisting removal, have a tech where you purchased it show you how.

As for the pickguard...IMHO it's just fine. I'd not go to black. Play this guitar for what its worth and don't muck around with it so soon out of the box. Your needs do not appear to be such that it is necessary.

Nice choice.

I'm a bit late on this one, but I may offer a separate view....
1st.... I have 2 Squiers, which have both undergone minor and major transformations..
the 1st was a twin HB, white bodied, rosewood neck. It became a donor. The neck I used for my " Stratopartster I " build thread, the body I used for the " Stratopartster II " build. ( this one is still in limbo as the wiring is in it's 3rd configuration as an HSS.. it was mated to an old J.B. Player neck I have had since 91.....
The 2nd Squier is a Candy Apple red which came with a Wilkinson trem ( vint/6 screws ) I'm not going to go over the build transformations here as there is 2 separate threads dedicated to these and other projects....

Suffice to say that my Squier's have become the Guinea pigs, or " Fransquienstrat's " ( no i didn't misspell ).
Keep them, use them to mod and learn how to upgrade, be that a simple pup change to a pot change or to completely redressing the frets and refinishing the necks and bodies...
It's not as daunting as it seems, the Squier's are quite expandable. And yes there are lessons to be learned from mistakes made....
But don't do as I did when I was 18, which was to mod a 2 pickup 59 Les Paul Custom.
The Squier's are much better suited..... Then again at the time my Lespaul was only worth $250 ( which was what I paid for it....

( I don't want to hear it from the peanut gallery ... " You Did What .... :?: :?:  )

So just keep the Squier and experiment, BTW I suggest one of Paul Balmer's books on Strats.....

Cheers..

PS... I do have a couple of Strats which are as the were when purchased, the C.S. 56 was one and my Crimson Red Deluxe player is almost stock.....SCN pup and pickguard change.... or lightly molested

Not unlike another tale recently told in the Forums about another Les Paul. You're correct in your observations about the past, and the value of guitars then. Who knew I should have held on to my '60 Danelectro twin short horn guitar, or not send my '58 Strat out to CBS-Fender to be refinished 45 years ago this summer. [They replaced the body instead of refinishing it. :? ]

I'd keep it for setimental reasons. Down the road you might regret getting rid of it.

Keep it...It's part of your collection now...There will be more...There is no cure for GAS. I use my MIM Strat to try out new pickups and other musical/artistic experiments.

I use my first guitar to learn how to mod guitars. After I got my real strat, I took my old guitar and took it apart just to learn more about strats.

Though right now it's strong left handed because I want to try and learn lefty.

I finally peeled the plastic from my pick guard and confirmed that the volume pot does just pull off (pry off) just like the others. Be careful, the push-button part has a very small shaft that looks as if it could break easily if cocked sideways when removing or reinserting.
