I've been playing a few late '70s Strats and I've come to realize that many are very small and round at the headstock end of the neck. I really dig this neck shape. Any thoughts on this?

Compound radius ending at 7.5 perhaps?

Nah!
7.25" all the way up and down.
The back of the neck was quite rounded though.
I agree, it was about time Paris had an answer :D

I liked the neck profile on most '70s Strats. The problem was, many of those guitars were so bloody heavy. Some weighed as much as a Norlin-era Les Paul.

Yah; I meant 7.25.....not sure why I said 7.5 LOL!
I've never had a 70's Strat. Had Strat's with a 70's headstock, and actually like the fat look.
I've played 7.25 radius necks, but they're just too tiny and tight for my fingers---but I understand the appeal.

I've always been (and most likely always will be) a 9.5 radius guy; but I also enjoy the 12 & 14 inch radius Epiphones and Kay I have.
