Looking for a fat/thick C shape strat neck but with a 7.25 radius. Does fender make any of these models/guitars today? Need a very hefty neck for my hands.....small hands and fingers and need the leverage! Play mostly chords so hoping to stick with a 7.25 radius.....tired of cramping on the thin necks. Not sure how nut width plays into this but if anyone has info on this topic (nut width) I'd also really appreciate that info. Really hoping Fender still makes thick neck models and of course has one in 7.25 neck radius.

Thanks!

The new American Vintage Series '56 model might be a good fit for your hands.

Looking at that model right now! Thanks for the tip/lead.
I'm also thinking of re-ordering a Warmoth neck I initially designed to be thin with a narrow nut..........still not sure about the effect of the size of the nut but pretty sure thin necks do not help those with small hands! :-) I'm hoping a neck that is not wide....and with a small nut (string spacing)......but thick/fat will help the feel and comfort for those playing almost all rhythm and chording.

Hi Migetkotla,

You might also want to check out the U shape. Thicker from front to back than a modern C, and not too wide at the nut, 7.25" radius, vintage size 2-7/32" string spacing at the bridge. Very nice guitar. I put 11s on mine and tuned down a half-step. :D

There was a US version, and it looks like they are no longer offered new, but you might find a used one.

What is the effect of increasing the width of the strings?

That neck, AKA the 10/56, is actually a V-neck. You might check out the American Deluxe V-neck and see if that suit's you. Though it has a 9.5-14 compound radius board I'd go by 'feel' in the shopping if I were you, rather than fitting your hand to specs. Most Fender necks, these days, are 9.5 'modern C's'. There's a lot browsing through specs to find what you seek and a lot of what's in the products section is not likely to be found hanging on the wall somewhere.

Basically you get more output from the pickups with thicker strings, a "beefier" sound, although not as easy to bend as lighter strings. Typically, thicker strings will stay in tune better and last longer.

I think he's asking about string spacing IINM. If so, I would answer that I doubt you will feel a difference in the spacing. I would be most concerned with the high E getting too close to the edge with a wider spaced bridge since the fretboard is the same size. I know I always make sure the high E saddle is pushed up before I tighten that string down after changing strings.

:?

In that case he should ask about string spacing and not string width.
