Looks like a legit 1979-1980ish Strat to me. The case is of course not a Fender, but it seems like a pretty common dealer-supplied case in Europe.

We are discussing a guitar I hope....
I did say something very similar when I was young once, which landed me in a torrent of verbal lashing......

So I think the color of my strat should be translucid red wine... and possible in 1978. Sound good. I will try to find the color to repair.

Just to conclude : I found an explanation on ebay (again). = a guy sold a 1978-78 trans red wine.. which fit exactly with my stat (however, his strat looks brain new but the color of the bodies fit well).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-FENDER- ... 19e1b3ff9d

"As far as the colour is concerned, fender brought out a limited supply of this Trans wine red colour during late 78-79 along with a Trans Teal Green. Fender recognise these colours as rare and therefore are worth slightly more than the standard colours during this period."

Thanks

I think we have tracked your's down; I have always thought it was a trans wine red.

This ebay auction is certainly a another real 78-80 trans wine red Strat; but his explanation is complete BS. I wouldn't say it was a common color, but it also was not a rare color at all in the USA.

Transparent Teal didn't came into surface until 1998.

Though this finish was dropped from the American Deluxe series in 2004, it became an option for the HWY1 series before the change to the CBS-era styling in 2006.
