Grzzz - I'm actually logged into Gmail right now but I still can't access your photos. You will need to put them on some free hosting site like photobucket or flcker.

What single-celled zygote was responsible for scouring all the chrome hardware with 000 steel wool?

Yes, that worked. More photos would be helpful - particularly of the body without the pickguard, the neck and headstock, etc.

Someone trying to emulate a brushed stainless look no doubt. Sometimes it scares me what people will do without even thinking twice about it. Imagine the damage they could do if they put some effort into it.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Why is it people take brand new guitars and relic them, mostly bad from what I've seen, then you get a real life relic, and someone feels the need to try and clean off the mojo, i don't think I'll ever get it!

haha keep cool guys.

I just want to know about the color of the body and want to know if the body match with the neck. The other parts are not in the discussion. I will add more pictures without the pickguard.

That doesn't remotely look like a crimson red strat color, it certainly has no resemblance to mine..... As I understand it the CRT is a translucent red stain shot under a clear coat...
I have seen quite a few of both the red and blue ( I'm looking for a blue one ) but the Op's seems more like a thinly applied solid red much like the Mary Kaye was.... :?:

HI guys, Thanks for the last message... basically, I'm not sure that crimson red too. But I want to clean the body (by the way, it's a relic style but a water damage style...) so that's why I need the color. But before, I need to know if the body is a 70's one (end of course, so 78-79) or not to start the work.

Pots numbers are 1377825.

Here's the pictures,

Thanks for time.

Also, what I know on the body :

1- it's a 3 blots modified in 4 bolds and restored now in 3 bolts.
2- I know that in 1977-78-79 (not sure) a notch (in 1977, not on all bodies) was added for a ground wire lug in the control cavity and output jack cavity and a black shielding paint was sprayed into the cavities right over the lugs and wires that were soldered to them.
3- Tuners have the shape of 70's and look great (not relic).
4- various stamps... (FRR ones, 3395 on the back, and others I can't read)
5- the tilt screws are squared and cross-head screws so no the good ones.

But the color remains strange, close to raspberry sometimes... and do not find it on color chart.

Thanks for time

G

To answer to 53megatone :

I think you're right (i mean there's a clear coat under the translucid red).

That's OK.... I sometimes even walk loudly ... .
Anyhow, I have an early 2002 Fender catalog and checking into the line, the crimson red and blue were fairly recent additions to that period.... Mostly the Deluxe Player series, a really nice quite affordable MIM series.....
I have applied stains over woodwork and then shot with Poly-U. or Poly-crylic. I have also applied color in the attempt to have a somewhat grain ghosting effect.... The latter is difficult as the paint must be diluted, but the higher the percentage of dilution, the more the paint breaks down and becomes something else......

I say this because if you are going to reshoot the body with a translucent color then with clear, You are not going to get the effect you want.... Unless you can completely strip the original paint off... That is difficult with wood if not impossible since that red color will have sunk into the deeper pores of the wood..

Rather look into applying a base coat, then several coats of red and clear intermixed. You may have to dilute the red for the effect you want....
Pick up a book on furniture refinishing, there's a few very detailed one's available online and at Barne's and Noble....

Be aware that to do this it will take quite some time and work....
Look up Xhefri, he is quite knowledgeable in refinishing guitars and his website is a day long journey of wide eyed wonder.....

Cheer's...
