You cannot fairly judge the tone of any guitar or pickup using a mustang 1 amp. Not even close to a fair evaluation. You are talking about playing a $900 guitar through a $99 amp. I mean seriously not trying to be a jerk, but how can you play a $900 guitar through a $99 amp and then conclude "the *guitar* sounds icy"? The amp is what's making the sound. Did you think about spending more than $99 on an amp before doing all the pickup changes on an American standard $900 guitar?

Ya I read you claimed the highway one sounded ok... really?

Her Wanna makes a very good point.

After I bought my first professional quality guitar (a brand new Strat), I spent almost 4 times as much on my professional quality amplifier.

thanks for the input. keep it coming!!! is it mustang amps in general? or all mod amps? what type of amps should I be looking at? I just don't want to spent $500-$1000 and then have to spent $150 plus for every effect/ or is that simply the reality.

At some point you will probably want (need) a professional quality amplifier and effects. And then we'll listen to your CDs and watch you on YouTube.

No problem still not being a jerk but yeah the mustang 1 in particular is garbage. I own one and I can say that. it's a tiny little closed back that sounds like my clock radio by my bed.

I also have the mustang 4 and it sounds pretty good. same with 3 I've heard.

mustang 1 is far outperformed by it's line 6 competitor even.

totally not fair to your guitar to judge tone using mustang 1 amp....

I own 7 fender guitars and 2 fender amps BTW. I love fender....but the speakers matter. it's more than just the modeling. I've typed this here many times.

freezing in my office excuse typos.

the mustang 1 is garbage. at least get a mustang III.

that is not a lot of money at all.....

my next amp will be a $900 tube deluxe reverb....you will want that tone eventually.

even mustang II would be slightly better..
