I just got a call from the guy doing a setup on my Strat. Now, when I say stuck, I'm not saying the knob wont loosen. The locking mechanism that holds the string in place is stuck. The knob can be completely loose, but that bar inside the hole is still holding the string. Anything I can possibly do to fix this?

Woa, that's a nasty one; new to me, though I use lockers on two guitars. If yours are Sperzels or Schallers I'd visit the appropriate website and send them an email asking for advice. You paid enough for them, proportionately, after all.

Casting my memory back, isn't this a guitar you've been modding, or do I mis-recall? If those are new tuners, then get replacements quick.

I don't recall if they are Schallers or Sperzels since I don't my guitar in front of me. They are whatever comes standard on the Am. Deluxes.

I am going to check out the websites and see if I can find anything.

I have a 2004 dlx with locking tuners and have had a similar problem on one post after removing the string.

When I loosen the tuner-knob, the bearing in the slot that actually holds the string sometimes doesn't loosen up so I can feed the string in.

I end up kinda poking in there with the string, and blowing some compressed air in there to try to jar it loose.

So far, I have been able to get it to work, assuming it was some dust or dirt in there.

Good luck.

Same thing happened in my black Sperzel's. The D string got REAL stuck and I gacked up all the finish trying to dig it out. It finally came out but I was real close to taking a drill to it. I can't imagine compressed air would be enough to do it, but if it worked it would sure be friendlier to to the chrome.

Best wishes, proceed slowly.
