I'm thinking of buying a fender stratocaster from year 84/85. The seller claims it's an reissue stratocaster ( he doesn't know what year it'd be a reissue of ). It's defininitely a two point tremolo and no serial number on the back plate, which should indicate that it isn't a Vintage Reissue stratocaster.
Serialnumber on neck is: E489909
And he sais everything is original.
Here are three picture of the strat;

( No more pictures are available atm )

My guess would be it's basically a Am Standard Stratocaster from 84/85, but I'm really not sure.
So therefore I need some help from you guys to figure out what this is.

Thanks in advance

Not far off but almost certainly 1987 give or take a month or two. The serial no story is well documented.

Oh okay... but it's a standard stratocaster and not a reissue as the seller claims it is?

Hi its a standard as it has a two point bridge, with cast saddles and the truss rod adjusts at the headstock end.

A reissue would have vintage bridge and adjust at the body end.

Don't care so much with those misleading E3/E4 digits! The serial numbers Fender used after CBS sold the company to the late Bill Schultz are not accurate and didn't reflect the exact manufacturing dates.

There weren't American Strats in 1984/85. All Fender guitars and basses from that era were made in Japan.

Production of American-made Fenders didn't start until late 1985/early 1986.

The guitar in question is an American Standard Stratocaster from circa 1987/89.

Oh okay that is pretty cool to know. That means this stratocaster was made 1 or 2 years after the Corona Plant was introduced.

The first American Standard Stratocasters came out from the original Corona factory in mid-to-late 1986, with the Telecasters following 2 years later.

The actual plant opened its doors in 1998.
