thank you all guys!and what about highway 1?

I honestly don't think there's a enough of a quality and sound difference between it and the MIM standard to justify the price difference. And frankly, I prefer the looks of the standards. Better colors and better headstock, IMO. The headstock of the Highway One looks too much like a Squier headstock. I know they're both based on the 70's-era headstocks, but I just don't like 'em as much.

All that said, on MF the highway one's are in "limited quantity" status, which suggests that Fender might be releasing the new set soon. I think they just recently released the new versions of the American Standard. And the current MIM Standard is only a couple years old. Maybe I'll like new Highway Ones better than the current version.

If you're talking about the MIM strat, then you're talking about a guitar which has gotten a lot of flack from know-it-alls on sites such as ultimate guitar and Guitar world. Then again, most of these posters are young kids who think the world revolves around having a Ibanez and knowing only 4 chords.I call them Blink 182 wanna-bes.The MIM strat, especially since Fender did the upgrades a couple of years ago,is in my opinion, the best guitar out there today for the price.I own one,and I couldn't see myself playing anything else. Not everyone can spill out $1,000.00 for a new American standard y'know!

I don't like Ibanez...sounds like cheesy quality to me. But I'd have to agree with you, the MiM Strats are great for their price ($400). I bought mine and in my opinion I think it sounds as good as my Gibson.

You have to give Ibanez credit on their archtops. Quality control seems to be kept up pretty well. Every one I've seen has been gorgeous and plays very well. Not really a fan of those weird looking F-holes though.

I have had GREAT experience with non-American Strats. I think the best fo the best are the MIJ or CIJ Strats. They make it hard for me to even bother with American Strats at all.

That being said I have owned one MIM Strat. It was a Single/single/hum configuration and I just loved it also. I don't still own it. I have to occasionally trim the herd back......dang wife that doesn't like gear clutter! hehehe I found that guitar to be an exceptional player with a really comfortable neck.

In general I think Fender makes great stuff at reasonable prices no matter what end of the spectrum you play.

All Ibanez guitars arent bad I had a couple of JS's that were awesome guitars, but not cheap by any stretch. the lower end Ibanez guitars arent that great but the upper range is pretty dang good.

Having the guitar setup right by a quality tech. is one of the most important things. Before I had my mia deluxe setup right I had a $300 strat that played a lot better. wether you buy your guitar from a chain or small store you either have to know if it is setup right for you or take someone with you that knows. You can get one straight from the manufactor and it still needs tweaking. Buying a new one can be a problem.
