I've never met a strat I couldn't make playable.

while this is true, I thought about keeping my MIM standard, but for 100$ more my music shop was offering me a killer deal that I just couldn't refuse.

They had a sunburst Highway One, american made, EXTREMELY light (7 lbs??), No clear coat (I like the idea of having a Relic), and it only cost me 500$ brand new. I got a killer deal, when other ones on the shelf were selling for $750. I took the extra money and put locking tuners, some upgraded pots, strap locks, and a few more things for about the price of an American Standard, but it's customized for under $1,000.

I have never owned a strat or tele that I didn't love. I also must confess that my favorite Stratocaster is a 1979 SQUIRE made in Japan that my 1st wife bought me... I play it more than any of my more pricey models... but, when I was younger and dumber I covered the Squire logo with a Fender metal Amplifier medallion on the headstock because Buddy Guy had one like that...

Well when I bought my strat I felt that it costed so much for me and that I was´nt worth it and have strong feelings to sell it , but when I cranked the volume and got that beautiful tone and I played Under The Bridge
I just felt love and all those feelings I had before wasgone never to be seen again.

No, in my local store I can loan a guitar for 2-3 days and test it at home with my equipment.
