Delete. I decided to delete this just so any customers don't find it by the pics I sent out and realize I only got it for 600.

I don't know about a sticker on the pickguard, but if it was on the clear plastic pickguard protection sheet, it wouldn't have meant to be permanent.

Thanks, it's obvious to me it's real, but it doesn't hurt to make sure, any more opinions are welcomed. It is an amazing deal, and it seems too good to be true. Also if anyone has insight as to value or comparison to the maple necks, cause that's just about all I can find *other than obvious fakes on eBay*.

+1

Tweed cases of the G&G variety normally only come with the '50s AVRI Strats and Teles.

It is an american deluxe made in the strats 50th year anniversary around 2004 but it is not the 50th anniversary deluxe if that makes sense.
The 50th Anniversary Deluxe was 2 tone sunburst gold fittings parchment pickguard with a 50th emblem and as mentioned a tweed case with gold interior and 50th badge.
It only came with a maple neck.
There were usa std and custom shop versions as well
Hope that clears it up. :D

Get the serial number, go to the Fender web site find the customer service email and send it to them, they will give you the complete specs for the serial number and you can compare it to the guitar. I got a reposne in less than 24 hours.

I agree. According to Fender Frontline from 2004, came in 2-color-sunburst, gold part (plated bridge, tuners, tipless wammy bar, pickguard screws, strap buttons, cable jack and neck platee). The 50th Anniversary logo on the pickguard is accurate. Also it came with a Vintage Tweed Case.

As I have found out through the past few years, that Fender put the 50th Anniversary chromed neck plates, but they are not 50th Anniversary guitars. I blame Fender for this problem.

I need to be 101% sure of its authenticity.

Hi Tenzo: 101% we can't do. But as far as we can tell from photos it looks legit, sans the replacement case. If the deal is as good as you say I wouldn't let a case stand in the way - you can always buy a tweed one later if you feel the need.

Tenzo wrote:
Now he says it comes with the s1 pickups... I fear getting a chinese replica... are there any tell tale signs that I should be aware of...

Do you mean the S1 button on the volume knob? I'd have thought that's probably a helpful clue that it isn't a Chinese fake, though perhaps they've got round to that too by now, I don't know. Markings on the neck heel and pocket would be useful things to look at: take photos and people here will be happy to offer comments.

Also he says he has original tag's and paperwork, but I am unsure as to what "paperwork".

A sales receipt from the original purchase would be the most useful piece of paper. Anything can be faked, but there comes a point the effort's likely not worth the candle.

Also, I typically I see maple necks, are the rosewoods better/worse more expensive/cheaper?

No difference, far as this purchase is concerned.

Also what would you value this guitar assuming it is in like-new condition except a small ding.

We're curious to know what the "amazing deal" you're being offered on this is. Tell us a number and we'll tell you if it sound good, or maybe as you say, "too good to be true".

And please note, I normally see 50th anniversary stickers on the pickguard.

Most of us remove those stickers the minute we get our hands on a guitar. Absence signifies nothing.

This is good advice. And get the serial number in advance to start checking it out, because super-helpful though Rob Schwarz is he probably won't be able to turn it round for you while you have the seller on the spot waiting.

Good luck - C

Well I'm late to the party (my posting time has been somewhat limited this past week) but jimmy james and paris nailed it. This is a 2004 American Deluxe Strat. No doubt about it. However, it is not the special edition "50th Anniversary American Deluxe Stratocaster" which had the gold hardware, anniversary logo stamped into the pickguard, tweed case, etc. It's just a regular American Deluxe Strat that was made during the calendar year 2004 so it has that "50th Anniversary of the Stratocaster" logo stamped on the neck plate. Remember - every American Standard and American Deluxe made that year had that logo stamped on the neck plate.

Tenzo - just make sure you're paying the going rate for an American Deluxe with the 2004-2009 specs. This isn't the special edition and should go for the same price as a 2005, 2006, etc. American Deluxe Strat.

Well I am trading something that I was going to sell for 800. The item is real hard to sell, so I am also getting the benifiet of getting rid of it. He is also doing 200 cash and driving a few hours just to trade. So it's like $600 for the guitar + benifiets.

I am assuming the value is the same as any modern American deluxe? Maybe just a little more desirable cause it was made in a benchmark year? Also back to another question, anything worth upgrading?

$200 cash plus the guitar for your $800 item is a steal; normally an American Deluxe would go for $800 or more in most parts of the USA. I would say that no, these won't be worth more than a 2005 American Deluxe just because they were built in the anniversary year. I would try it for a while; about the only upgradeable items would be the pickups assuming you don't care for the SCNs.
