I don't get it, advanced shredders will not buy the Mexican models.
If you want to sell us a Floyd Rose model its gonna have to be an American model.
The American Special HSS with an original recessed Floyd Rose is a good place to start.

Here this is why

Yes thats exactly what they will tell you on the phone if you call Customer Service.
They say hey have you looked at our Charvel and Jackson lines?
I want a Fender Stratocaster. I guess I just keep giving Super-Vee the money or installing them myself.
Sure would be nice if Fender would just sell me one.

I hear you Donny, I'm sick of the mexican strats that come equipped with the Floyd Rose Special or the Ping made Floyd's and selling them as Floyd Rose Originals. I have one myself.. I just can't get along with my guitar at all and despite the Floyd, it ain't no shredder by any means.

If there was an HSS American Strat with jumbo frets and a Floyd Rose Original or a Schaller Floyd Rose, that would be perfect. I bet people will pay just to have a Strat with a Floyd.

My Heartfield Talon gets more action these days. However, I've been thinking of selling out to the Charvel brand and trading my strat & getting a San Dimas Japan model as it seems to fit my tastes perfectly. Certainly not a Strat, however they are as close as you'll get to a Strat without going for a Jackson or an Ibanez. Flat radius, SD pickups and 22 frets.

I would have thought that since the new interest in 80's metal from bands like Steel Panther, there would be a guitar to suit from Fender with a vibe.

Satchel (Russ Parrish) from Steel Panther plays a Kramer which is a very similar beast to the San Dimas:

Extremely cocky, but has got the chops to back himself. This guy lectured and was taught by Paul Gilbert

Ha - you've got the fingers for the job and no mistake! Thanks for the clip. 8)

Regarding the Mexican Floyd Strat, our Forum friend Nik73 recently bought the MIM Floyd Rose Plus Top to go alongside his beautiful Custom Shop Strat. That gentleman knows his guitars and certainly feels the CS is the superior axe - but he has a lot of time for the MIM as well. From what I saw recently of the non-Floyd MIM Plus Tops I'd support that: I wouldn't dismiss those guitars just because of the "Made in" label.

Still, I get what you're saying.

I guess from Fender's point of view a large part of it comes down to numbers. If they believe they can sell enough units they'll make the guitar. The models they issue must reflect how they see the market. Though it does seem odd if they think there's a buyership for a MIM FR Strat but not at the US price point.

On the other hand, perhaps the new MIM version is testing the waters, and an Am Std FR will be along in due course? It wouldn't be the first time they've gone about it that way. So hold on - what you want just might be coming...

Cheers - C
