Purchased a Fender American Deluxe about 2 months ago and after I changed the strings for the first time, they feel so far off the fret board and it's almost uncomfortable to play because of this. Is it fairly easy to perform the setup myself to get the strings lower. I have been playing for a while now but I have never really did this myself. It would be nice to save some money :D

Any advice is appreciated.

It is fairly simple to do. I learned to them on my own just by following the instructions.

Just out of curiosity, did you change string gauges when you put new strings on.
If I had my guess, the different string tensions of the different sizes are playing havoc on your tremolo, and the bridge is probably floating a lot higher than it used to?

It's very possible that the gauge was different but I'm not 100% sure what strings came on the guitar from the factory. I followed the online directions from Fender and with a couple of slight turns of the truss rods, it already feels better.

Checking the specs on the 2008 American Deluxe, and most fenders I've seen lately, it probably came with 9-42s

Make sure you have a good referene point (say, A=440Hz) and that you are tuned correctly! Tuning sharp could cause the neck to warp and lift the strings. This condition could permanently damage your guitar.
