I looked at the photos - this is either an American Standard that someone put the Lace Sensors on or it could possibly be the short-lived "American Standard Deluxe" (or maybe it was "Deluxe American Standard") that was an American Standard but had the gold logo Lace Sensors added at the factory. That one only ran for one year or so circa 1989 (either mid-88 to mid-89 or mid-89 to mid-90). By the way those "E8xxxxx" serial numbers really ran from about the middle of 1988 until some time in 1989 - the serials and the year don't come close to being synched up until the early 1990s.

Unfortunately Fender can't check serial numbers going back that far.

John C is right , the serial number and features point to a Deluxe American Standard Strat which Fender introduced in 1989 and discontinued them in 1990—so they had a short production life of about one year. They came with all the features of a Strat Plus, such as Gold Lace Sensors, same bridge and body type, but no locking tuners or roller nut. They will often have the E4, E8 or E9 serial numbers too. What these really are is an American Standard Strat with Gold Lace pickups installed. According to the Blue Book of Guitars, there was an estimated 400 instruments produced. Personally, I think many more than 400 were made as I have owned several and I have questions coming to me every few weeks about these by email. I see them from time to time on eBay as well. They are "some-what" collectable and are sometimes sold, mistakenly, as a Strat Plus. Over time, these may very well be quite collectable. I have one nice one tucked away just for as a collectable.
