Hello,
As my first post, I was just wondering if anyone out there can tell me anything about a mystery strat that I have owned for about 10 years now. I bought it used at a pond shop for $150 and it was my first guitar.

Anyways, it is black, has a rosewood fingerboard, a silver logo fender lace sensor at the neck; a humbucker at the bridge; one volume; one tone; a Kahler Spyder bridge, and G-Gotch tuners. There is also a 3-way pickup selector, and a second toggle switch which seems to control the humbuckers (hum on/off). The headstock reads "Strat" in bold silver and underlined in pink, and at the edge in smaller font reads "by Fender". It seems to be made in the U.S, since the the back plate which joints the neck to the body reads "Fender U.S.A". The serial number is not 100% clear, but it seems to be F009147.

This guitar does not have the traditional strat look - the body is smaller, and the black pickguard has a telecaster look to it. I have never seen this guitar anywhere else, but I am assuming that it is from the early 80's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am acutally thinking about selling it and would also like to get an idea as to how much I should be asking for it.

Thanks in advance everyone :)

John

I believe you have one of those Heavy Metal Strats....(Similar to this?)...

Image

These were made from 1988 till 1992 in Japan and the US.

...There's one on eBay at the moment from 1988 for 300 USD.

Thanks for you help guys. The pic is pretty close. The neck looks identical, but the body is a little different (i.e. no pickguard, middle pickup).
