Are there any plans to make such a reissue? in any line (Classic, Road Worn, American Vintage, Vintage Hot Rod...). I'm a big Hendrix and Blackmore fan and would appreciate to see more late 60s models (CBS headstock, no bullet, round lam maple or rosewood fretboard...).

I saw something for the Japanese market made especially for 'small hands' but I would be very very happy to see a non Custom Shop option for the global market.

I actually play a HW1 Strat, but I'd like to see a model which has a neck that's a little fatter... with so many takes on the pre-CBS design - wouldn't it be a good direction to explore?

Any forum members who share this notion?

I have a 2007 Black w/ maple neck, HWY1 that I modified to with some Custom Shop '69s and added the all black parts. It looks great and counds like no other Strat I own.

I have mixed feelings about the '69 pups. They are voiced very differently than the clissic sounding Strat pups. I can see why guys back in the day felt, "They don't sound like the Strats of yester-year."

It's not an actual '69, but by buffing out the finish and adding the pups, it certainly comes pretty close.

I buffed out my Highway One too. With the large headstock (and no bullet truss rod), it is like a '69 (give or take a couple years). I love it.

I've wanted an American version of a '68-'69 myself. I really like the neck with no walnut plug or skunk stripe, being a maple cap.

There are tons of 68 and 69's in the Fender custom shop world, that is for sure.

Yep, and I'm waiting for the day I will be able to afford one. But considering the logistics of playing live shows (without having a roadie) - a more moderately priced 69 would be perfect.

Then I would look at the 90's 68 CIJ's, they are reasonable and good guitars, maybe get one and then install some Fender 69 pups.

+1

Historically there are a few inaccuracies but the fundamentals are solid. New pickups, better pots and switch, a steel trem block, and you're off to the races.
