I notice the specs for Texas Special pick ups are 6.2 neck; 6.5 middle; 6.5-7.1 bridge. What does this mean 6.5-7.10?

That means that the bridge pickups Ohms rating varies from 6.5K Ohms to 7.10k Ohms. Couple that with a + or - 10% tolerance and you can have a very wide difference in output.

I have Standard MIA pickups that are "hotter" than that. But it is a pickup with more mid-range tone than the MIA's have.

Hope that helps.

So I'm thinking maybe I should just leave the bridge pick-up in my 2010 American Standard and just replace the neck and middle pick-up. Or should I be looking for somthing else? What are some recomendations.

Hi, who am i to say that fender is wrong, but the bridge pickup is 7.6 As for what pickups to use, the texas specials really kick when adjusted for height and tilt properly. When you strum the strings, you know that you have extra power under the hood so to speak. What they won't do however is give you a lighter sound like a standard for instance, so you also lose something for that gain. If you have a nice matched set there,i say go for it and enjoy!

No if you leave the 2010 bridge pickup in your guitar and just put in two TX Specials it will sound different. Replace all as a set.

Prepaws: I have an 2003 MIA set with a 7.8k Ohms bridge that came stock. Must have been an off day at the plant. The reading can vary with temperature from a low of 7.69 to a high of 7.9.

To snick: yeah i think it has something to do with the magnets. A different supplier or not made to exacting tolerences etc...different things effect the voltage reading and not just the winding of the pickup. The fender specs seem to be off on this one.

Something else to consider regarding mixing standard and Texas Specials : the polarities of the standards are NSN, while the TS's are SNS.

(mine are from a few years back, so Fender could have changed things, just keep polarity in mind when mixing pickups)

I think the AS stock pickups are great for distorted tones. They were missing something on the clean tones. IMO
