I've got a 97 or 98 American strat with a natural finished ash body. I entered the serial number (N7328700) at the guitar dater project and it came up as 1997-1998 from the Corona plant. I was wondering if anybody knows what specific model this is, standard, deluxe etc...?

Hello O'Rourke,

Man, that is a beautiful guitar.

Not a deluxe which is equipped with
Locking tuning machines
single string tree
abalone inlay
noisless pickups.

Best of luck with it.

Cheers.

Looks like an American Standard. I have a Mexican Strat that looks exactly like that except the finish is different (and the headstock has a serial #).

Thanks for the compliments on the guitar, I'm really happy with it. :D I traded away my 2007 MIM a week after I picked this one up, it has a great feel and very good fretwork. I'm a sucker for natural finishes over woods with good looking grain patterns and I LOVE the looks of this one.

I was mainly wondering if there was some specific model in those years with an ash body, or if Fender offered an American standard with the ash body as some sort of option/limited run etc... People ask me what model it is and I don't know what to tell them. Also, I don't have the trem arm for it and I'm not sure whether one for a MIA standard will fit.

Sharpiman, I traded an amp and cash for this strat and a Carvin CT4M gold top so I don't have an exact price that I paid for it.

I love that you've laid her out on that deep rug in the raked lighting. Do you have a log fire going, some candles lit, maybe a glass of red wine each for you and the guitar?

Man, that's how to relate to your guitar. She's beautiful. Shaggadelic!

Nobody's actually got anything useful to offer, have they? We're just drooling...

I have a 98 America, that looks the same: same tuners, trem, everything. Best strat I've had yet too, love it :)

Congrats :)
