For some reason it seems to me that since the Strat is so popular, and so many companies make knock offs, that the fender Strat has become the basic shape for all guitars, I mean lets face it, Lots of people play them now.

It's been that way for over 30 years, man.

Even Gibson has produced strat copies.

I think it's the reason I find the Stratocaster so boring as far as form goes.

I like odd shaped guitars.

I'm obsessed with the ones that Prince has...lucky rich mother...

Not me, I'm all about the classics: Strat, LP, Tele, SG, and ES-335. But, I'm a bluesman and classic rocker at heart... wierd-shaped guitars just ain't my cup o' tea. I especially think that Fender Strats (not knockoffs; the headstock is important) and Les Pauls (real Gibsons or Epis) are among the most beautiful things in the world.

One thing to note, though, is that a lot of the the Strat knockoffs don't look and feel exactly like a Stratocaster, especially when you get into brands favored by shredders (e.g. Ibanez). Many of them are sharper and more "aggressive" in their asthetics. My first guitar was a Yamaha shedder's guitar.

The Strat was seen as an odd shape when it came out.

But now we're all used to it.

I always liked the fact that a Stratocster body shape reminds me of the female form, of which I am very appreciative. Nothing like a nice waist flaring out into a round set of hips!! On the guitar....of course!

Like their Valley-Arts-Guitar line that take shape of Fenders precise models such as the Strat AND Tele (except for the headstock). Not to mention their Kramer Focus, Striker, and Pacer models also copy Strats.

Quite personally, I can't see why Fender hasn't slapped a lawsuit on Gibson for their Valley Arts Guitar and Kramer line for copying their models. I honestly can't.

I agree that it is now the most common guitar out there, and they are one of the best guitars i have played on, but i personally prefer telecasters and mustangs.

Because it is the headstock they chose to trademark, not the body shape.

I think your post is boring and I can see why you would like odd-shaped things. I know Prince likes odd shaped things like his name!?!?

I think you would really like the Fender Telecaster; it has an unusually odd shape!

Just kidding!

The S shaped guitar style is probably the most popular ever!

The 2 most recognized/copied body styles are the Strat and the LP.

Yup, both got it right the first time. Well, almost right for the LP. It could use a body contour. The strat was perfect right out of the gate. Well designed, well balanced, great tone and easy to play. That's why everyone's copied it in one way or another for 60 years. And why I've loved em for almost 40 years now.

I've seen LP style body with the contours. They got the body right the first time on the LP too.
