I'm interested in this, but I don't see any online dealers with this listed. Who has them for sale?

If you've already played a V neck and you -know- you like them, please disregard this. That said, if you haven't, I would STRONGLY suggest playing a guitar that has one before you buy anywhere online as...to me at least...they just do NOT feel like a typical guitar neck at all. In fact I just unloaded a 2004 Lite Ash Strat because it had that V neck like ridge at the back of the neck....felt like a cross between a C and a V (wasn't just me...the guy I sold it too said he felt it too). Yea, some folks do like them but a lot of folks don't. There's a pretty good reason the "modern C" comes on most Fenders these days...a good many folks just don't like those chunky triangular necks.

Seriously, deluxe or otherwise, if you've never played a V, find one and try it before you blow a wad online and get stuck with something that you could end up hating.

Just my $.02.
Jim

I have a Deluxe V-Neck Strat and I compared it to my Tele C neck designed
and I perferred the C neck over the V. Everybodys hands are built differnt so your just have to go to the store and try some chord shapes out up and down the neck
at first you wont notice that differnce but give it time and you will.

My thought buy a C over a V. Maybe if your a female with very tiny hands buy the V for higher frets but if you mostly play on the top of the neck they both start out at 9.5 lol. so its the same till you get to the higher frets. Good Luck!

Though Jim and I both admit to owning a Les Paul, [mine with a 60's fast neck] three of my 4 Strats have a v-neck profile, each with a slight different carve. I have a Deluxe Strat; a Clapton, and a '57 VHR. I had to be satisfied with the vintage C-neck on my Gilmour. As suggested by another contributor, the V-necks fit my hand better. The only one in the line which does not is the 10/56 being offered on certain models. I never cared for the modern C, from the time of its introduction. Your suggestion that he audition the necks before he purchases, is wise.

I have two guitars with V neck profiles.

One is an old Dean V (a flying v metal machine)

The other is a 1995 MIJ '50s Telecaster. It's really a nice playing guitar.
