Post subject: what pickups?

i have an american standard stratocaster 2010 model with tex mex pickups. i wanna put it some custom shop fat 50's on the neck custom shop 69 in the middle and seymour duncan ssl2. I play blues classic rock hard rock soft rock . and maybe some alternative rock at times. Do u guys suggest this pickups? and if not? any suggestion for the things i just mentioned. and are the tone pots on my strat ok already for this configuration?

Personally, I think the neck pickup would be a tad muddy, the middle pickup would be too clanky and the bridge pickup would be rather bland. I'd put the 69 in the neck, the SSL-2 in the middle and the 50s in the bridge. Of note is the fact that the SSL-2 has even polepieces where the other two pickups have staggered ones. You may want to consider an SSL-1 in lieu thereof as it is the same wind, etc. as the SSL-2 but with staggered polepieces akin to the other two pickups.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

However I wouldn't let pole-piece stagger (or lack thereof) be a deciding factor. The bridge pickup in the Robert Cray has flat pole pieces and those pickups sound quite tasty.

Yes, but under our agreed recommendation, the Duncan would be in the middle.
