Just got in my Dimarzio Injector Loaded pickguard from Guitar center after a month on back order, and I just finished the install...BLOWN AWAY! Dimarzio nailed this one. If you are like me, and come from a Gibson background, but changed to fender, you probably have had parts of you that missed that crushing pressure of a good humbucker sound, but also wanted the cleans and quack of a single coil....This is the ticket! Music to my ears. Just wanted to give props where they are due! Dimarzio, you got it right big time with this pickguard! 8)

Here she is...

Yes, the FSR Am Deluxe AzGold. I tinted the neck in an earlier post, and switched guards. Check out the tinting process. Was a blast!

Glad it all worked out for you. I though the D-M's might be just the ticket.

Rawk on!

The Injectors are wired standard without the fancy S1 cap.

True. I wasn't a big fan of the s-1 after a few weeks with the deluxe. Always played either 1, 5, or 4 position.

This loaded pickguard was stocked wi injector neck, injector bridge, and Area 67 middle. Love the 67 big time! The bridge is a ROCKIN powerhouse, and the neck is just crazy nice!

The Area '67™ as the name suggests is a stacked humbucker modeled after an overwound late 1960's Strat pickup; you can nail Jimi's signature tones without the annoying 60-cycle buzz!

The Injector™ Bridge Model is one of DiMarzio's hottest hum-canceling models (185mV output) with six individual AlNiCo magnets. The sound is not like a vintage single-coil: highs are bright but not glassy, and lows are solid and defined. It was designed to work equally well with rapid single-note arpeggios and power chords without becoming muddy or compressed. It has about 40% less magnet-pull than standard single-coils, and this is essential for the superior speed and dynamic range with which this pickup responds to pick attack. Paul Gilbert’s setup on his signature Ibanez Fireman® guitar he played on “Fuzz Universe” was Injector™ Neck Model in the neck, Area 67™ in the middle, and Injector™ Bridge Model in the bridge. The Injector™ is a lot louder and warmer than the Area 67™ but the combination produces varied tonal colors in the 2 and 4 positions, with the Area 67™ alone providing vintage tone and the Injector™ Neck and Bridge for heavier sounds.

With the Injector™/Area '67™ combo you've Paul Gilbert's favorite three single-coil setup in your fingertips!

Just out of curiosity, do you ever play off the 67 alone? The reason I ask is (and as you know), the Injectors are quite aggressive, full and loud. This would lead me to believe that played by itself, the 67 is out of character by comparison.

The Injector/Area '67 combo is essentially an HSH configuration.

Well then, if this is the intent of this combo, it definitely answers my question and I thank you.

Just wondering, what are the values for the pots + cap that came with the loaded pickguard?

Truthfully, the 67 played alone is so beautiful, and full, but not overly aggressive. The Injector bridge and Neck, although hotter pups are not nearly as aggressive as my Humbuckers on my LP's. Thats why I love em. You can roll off the volume a tad, or lower the pups a bit and Voila! Smooth yet full of power and not muddy at all. For the first time, Im enjoying playing in all positions on my start like never before.

Although it is mentioned below that this is essentially an HSH config, I would both agree and disagree. Yes, the Injectors neck and bridge have a hotter punch and fullness like a humbucker, but still the clean and quack of a single coil, and the 67 is just that, 1967 rolled into one pup! lol. If you are thinking of this pickguard for yourself, its worth the step in my opinion. I was actually beginning to miss my Les Paul sound until this pickguard. I feel like I have a Strat/LP combo in one. Just remember, the injectors are not labeled as a Humbucker and shouldnt be. They are a different beast in tone, and overall feel. If a Humbucker is a Tiger, then the Injectors are a Tiger...groomed very well!
