Looks like you can now buy a Fender neck and a Fender Body from the Fender factory. I called Fender and the necks will also have a serial number. Wow look how many times I said FENDER. :o   8) lol

I just saw that and was going to start a thread, you beat me to it, How effing cool is this?! And the prices seem reasonable! I realize that the actual selling price could be less if they are sold through retailers, although the page indicates "Fender Direct".

Fender doesn't sell American Deluxe bodies and necks, only American and Mexican Standard.

The web has been buzzing (#trending) for past couple of days.

It appears if you buy all the parts to build an American Standard guitar, it works out at the store shelf price of a complete new guitar.

I see they also have the MIM Standard Series parts. Same pricing situation.

The Fender logo's are there, but I suspect there are no serial numbers.

I have to tell myself, these are new, unused, and warranted parts... So I guess their pricing reflects it... I'd rather see them allow Warmoth or MightyMite to place the waterslide decals on them.... Can't they just license that out?

Kind of a shame it took Fender 59 years to figure out people like to tinker around and build Strats from parts. Maybe now they'll figure out that people would also like to buy the full line of original sunn reissues like Model T's and Solarus amps as well. :D

Have you priced an original Model T Sunn lately?

A modern hand-wired re-issue, using the original circuit and all milspec components (most of which are no longer manufactured) would cost upwards of three thousand dollars.

Few musicians have pockets that deep. That's why Fender's original Rumble Bass, Dual Professional, and Tonemaster crashed and burned in the marketplace.
